Medicare Basics

Medicare is base health coverage offered by the US government. Basic Medicare is made up of Part A – Hospital coverage and Part B – Medical coverage. Alone it can leave the consumer responsible for additional health care expenses such as deductibles, 20% co-insurance (unlimited), and excess charges. Thus, the need for Medicare supplemental coverage.
The federal government has mandated guidelines as to how supplemental coverage can be offered.
